ISRO places EOS-05 in geostationary orbit

ISRO launched its first successful mission of 2026 on September 4 when the GSLV-F17 rocket lifted off from Sriharikota at 2:55 am IST. The vehicle carried the 2,367 kg EOS-05 satellite, also known as GISAT-1A, and placed it in a sub-geosynchronous transfer orbit about 18 minutes later. This marks the agency's return to flight after the January PSLV failure and gives India its first dedicated imaging satellite operating from geostationary altitude.
